Supporting the Nervous System. Supporting the Body’s Ability to Heal.

Pain is more than a signal from one area of the body. Chronic pain can involve the nervous system, inflammation, tissue health, stress response, and the body’s ability to repair itself.

At Acupuncture of West Michigan, we are excited to introduce Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) — an advanced, non-invasive therapy designed to support the body’s natural healing processes and address pain from a whole-person perspective.

What is Frequency Specific Microcurrent?

FSM uses extremely small amounts of electrical current that are similar in magnitude to the body’s own natural electrical signals. Unlike stronger electrical stimulation therapies designed primarily to stimulate nerves or muscles, microcurrent works at a much lower intensity.

The goal is to communicate with the body’s tissues in a way that supports cellular function, nervous system regulation, and recovery.

The Nervous System and Chronic Pain

Your nervous system plays a major role in how you experience pain.

When the body experiences injury, inflammation, stress, or repeated irritation, the nervous system can become more protective and sensitive. Over time, the “volume” on pain signals can become amplified.

FSM is used to support the nervous system’s ability to regulate these signals while also supporting the tissues involved in healing.

By working with the nervous system — not just the painful area — we can take a more complete approach to pain care.

Supporting Cellular Energy and Recovery

Every cell in your body depends on energy production to function and repair.

Microcurrent has been studied for its potential role in supporting cellular processes, including mitochondrial activity. The mitochondria are often called the “powerhouses” of the cell because they help produce ATP, the energy currency cells use for repair and normal function.

Supporting healthy cellular energy may help create a better environment for the body’s natural recovery processes.

A Whole-Person Approach to Pain

At Acupuncture of West Michigan, we look beyond symptoms.

Our approach combines traditional East Asian medicine with modern integrative therapies to help address:

• Chronic pain and injuries

• Muscle and joint discomfort

• Nerve-related pain

• Inflammation and tissue recovery

• Conditions where the nervous system plays a role in pain sensitivity

FSM can be combined with acupuncture and other therapies to create a personalized plan focused on restoring function and improving quality of life.

Don’t Let Pain Limit Your Summer

Michigan summers are short — and you deserve to enjoy them.

Whether it’s hiking, gardening, biking, golfing, traveling, or simply keeping up with the people you love, pain shouldn’t decide what you can and cannot do.

Ask us if Frequency Specific Microcurrent may be a good addition to your care plan.
